With the confusion over weather reports, teams prepped like mad before the start of the malaysian round of the oppo iGPmanager league. Conflicting reports of clear skies or thunderstorms caused many last minute changes. Who got caught out? Who profited like mad? Read on and find out!

Qualifying - Full wets were in order. Full wets were the only tire possible to use. Qualifying highlighted just how big the gap was going to be per lap. The wet conditions also caught out many people in setups and strategies. The qualifying for the top 3 packing wets was expected, but TheTeamWithSauce was one of the many who were gambling on dry weather. The result was a disappointing grid spot and a chance for Kalnins and Zaymidoroga to get an early lead. F. Gott and Berlusconi were threats last season and would not simply roll over and let Galezcka have an easy run back to the front.

Race - With qualifying rules in effect, only the top 3 were starting on wets. When the lights went green, the top 3 immediately shot off like cannons while the intermediate runners struggled on the swimming pool conditions. Galezcka fell back even further as the winner of last race seemed to be running a conservative strategy. Kalnins easily took the lead on the first lap and put the pressure on the rest to keep up. But at the end of the third lap, Galezcka made a last second dive into the pits for full wets and a full tank. He came out and immediately began chasing the front to erode the 50 second deficit to the lead...

Not that Kalnins would be willing to let that happen. The fastest car in the early stint, his pace was very rapid for what should be a one stop race. Which meant it was a shock to everyone when he dove into the pits hard on lap 10. A bungled strategy meant Kalnins stuck to his 2-stop plan. But his lighter car was able to consistently tick off very fast laps. Averaging half a second or so faster than the other two, the stop dropped him to third. Zaymidoroga’s Stop on lap 14 meant that Meyer took the lead until her own stop on lap 16.

Meanwhile, having also made his one stop on lap 16, Galezcka went off on a tear and was the only racer to consistently click off 1:37/1:38 lap times when the rest of the wet cars were still struggling to consistently hit 1:39 lap times. But once Kalnins got back in the lead, his own power meant he was able to stay there despite having another stop towards the end. An easy victory after all, it would seem. Meyer and Zaymidoroga’s fight went on until the last few laps. More consistent pace let Meyer stay in 2nd after the pit stops and zaymidoroga’s 1:41s weren’t helping. But he still managed to cross in a solid 3rd to round out the podium. Galezcka was only a second and a half behind him. 20 seconds behind Kalnins, he managed to erode a massive early race deficit and in a Schumacher like mastery, work his way into a spot to keep 2nd in the championship overall. But sock of the race was Berlusconi’s intermediate equipped fast lap of the race at 1:37.1. Potential dark horse for the last spot in the promotion zone, but the 4 way battle for the lead might continue all season.

2 podiums and 1 win in 10 races.

Sauce, I do believe you, Joe Morgan, Riley, and I have a genuine fight going on this season.

My 1st race! I finished 9th. I wasn’t able to watch it live unfortunately.

I assume I qualified on Slicks. I setup the special thing in case of standing water on the track during a race (2mm I think), but I had them put on Intermediates.

I need to figure out the weather forecasts since it shows 3 days when I look.

I never got into the Watchmen, but I stand by saying that the opening credits to that film were the best cinematography I have ever seen.

The watter level never went over 1 mm. FYI. Malaysia GP in iGP is based on a different track from the current schedule.

Great race, I hope it stays this close all season... and you better keep writing up these reports, they’re great. Zaymidoroga wants more of the spotlight though.....

Ahh cool deal - I might’ve had it at 1mm.

So for the weather, which day do I pay attention to?

Race day. And if the weather looks sketchy on the forecast, do your practice laps right before Quali.
